June 2026 Nintendo Direct Predictions: Zelda Remake, Switch 2 Games, and More! (2026)

Nintendo Direct: A June 2026 Prediction and Speculation

As the months go by, the anticipation for a new Nintendo Direct only grows stronger. The last general Nintendo Direct was in September 2025, and the wait has been long. But what can we expect from Nintendo in June 2026? Let's dive into some predictions and speculation, keeping in mind that this is all based on existing rumors and speculation, not confirmed information.

What We Think Might Happen

One of the most exciting rumors is the development of a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2. This would be a significant release, and it's interesting to consider how it might be presented in a Nintendo Direct. Personally, I think a trailer or a short gameplay demo would be the perfect way to announce such a game, allowing fans to get excited without spoiling too much.

Another game that has been rumored is Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. This would be a natural progression for the series, and it's interesting to consider how the Switch 2's capabilities might enhance the Pikmin experience. I'd love to see a trailer or a gameplay demo that showcases the new features and improvements.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Nintendo Switch Sports are also rumored to be getting something new. It's unclear if these are getting Switch 2 Editions or all-new titles, but I think a Nintendo Direct would be the perfect place to announce these games and give fans a glimpse of what to expect.

One game that has been rumored for a long time is Kirby: Planet Robobot. I think it's definitely possible that we'll see a port or remake of this game in a June Nintendo Direct. With the Switch 1 still having a huge install base, it makes sense to release a port of one of the most loved Kirby games while we wait for the next new mainline entry.

Finally, there's the matter of 3D Mario. According to NateTheHate, it does exist, but it won't be ready until 2027. However, a June Nintendo Direct could show a little snippet of the game as a "one more thing" kind of deal. This would be a great way to build excitement for the game and give fans a taste of what to expect.

What We Want to Happen

While the above section is based on existing predictions and rumors, this section is nothing but speculation. For one, it's been a little while since Nintendo's added a new Nintendo Switch Online platform. I think it's time for Nintendo to expand its online services, and the Nintendo DS would be a great addition to the library. With the Switch 2's built-in microphone, it's now a viable option to have its own service.

Speaking of the Switch 2, I think we need more GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch Online service. It's been over a year since we got Super Mario Sunshine, and I'm sure fans would love to see more games from the GameCube library. Additionally, I think we need more DLC for existing games. Mario Kart World could definitely use some new characters and courses, and Pokemon Pokopia has an absolute ton of content that could be expanded upon.

In terms of new games, I think we need a new Super Mario Maker or Luigi's Mansion game. Next Level Games' last self-developed title was Mario Strikers: Battle League in 2022, which was already four years ago. I think it's time for a new title from the studio.

Finally, I think we need a new 3D Mario game. While it's way too soon for Animal Crossing, an all-new Zelda, or Splatoon, I think a new 3D Mario game would be a great addition to the Nintendo Direct. With the success of the Switch 2, I think Nintendo is in a great position to release a new 3D Mario game and build excitement for the future of the franchise.

A June 2026 Nintendo Direct

In my opinion, a June 2026 Nintendo Direct would be the perfect time to announce these games and give fans a glimpse of what to expect. With the anticipation building, I think Nintendo could create a great event that would excite fans and build excitement for the future of the company.
